WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — A Hartland man charged with assaulting the occupants of a North Hartland home in the course of a robbery 15 months ago pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years in prison.

Aaron Gobin, 34, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in the Nov. 5, 2020, attack and robbery at a home on Route 5 in North Hartland during a change of plea hearing in Windsor Superior Court in White River Junction on Wednesday.

The three-year sentence is to be served consecutively after the current sentence he is serving in Northern State Correctional Facility in Newport, Vt.

As part of the plea deal, the state dismissed five other charges, including reckless endangerment, burglary of an occupied dwelling and witness tampering.

As reported at the time, Gobin, who has a history of felony criminal convictions, and another male broke into the home and pistol-whipped the occupants while stealing occupants’ wallet, purse and money.

Gobin was arrested a few hours later at his home in Wilder and the second alleged assailant, Coby Bowen, turned himself in to police the next day.

Bowen faces charges of aggravated assault, robbery, burglary, reckless endangerment and unlawful mischief. His case is still pending.
