HANOVER — Dartmouth College interim provost David Kotz has been named to the position permanently.

Kotz, a computer science professor and 1986 Dartmouth graduate, has held the interim role since last July, according to a news release from the college. He has previously served as associate dean of the faculty for the sciences; executive director of Dartmouth’s Institute for Security, Technology, and Society; and core director of Dartmouth’s Center for Technology and Behavioral Health.

Among Kotz’s responsibilities will be to promote Dartmouth’s academics and student-led programs, support instructors and work with executive vice president Rick Mills on the college’s academic budget. Kotz also will continue to oversee Dartmouth’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic alongside Mills. He will report to college president Phil Hanlon.

“I look forward to the work ahead. We have a lot to do,” Kotz said in the release.
