HANOVER — After dropping its Ivy League opener at Cornell on Sunday, the Dartmouth College men’s basketball team will have to wait one extra day to open the home portion of its conference schedule.

The Big Green’s game against Yale on Friday has been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns within the Bulldogs’ program, Dartmouth said on Monday, with a reschedule date to be determined. Dartmouth (3-9, 0-1 Ivy) will host Brown on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Yale’s scheduled conference opener against Columbia on Sunday was also postponed. The Bulldogs hope to return to action next Sunday, Jan. 9, at Harvard.

All other Dartmouth athletic events are still on as scheduled, although home events remain closed to the general public until at least Jan. 18. Only pre-approved guests of student-athletes and coaches will be allowed to attend, and they will be required to show proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the event.

This is the Big Green’s second postponed game in the last two weeks — their matchup with New Hampshire on Dec. 29 was called off after positive tests emerged in the Dartmouth program.

The Big Green have lost eight consecutive games after a 3-1 start, with their last victory coming at Bryant on Nov. 28. Graduate guard Brendan Barry is Dartmouth’s leading scorer with 14.7 points per game, with fifth-year forward Aaryn Rai close behind at 12.3 per game. Rai is also the Big Green’s top rebounder with 7.3 per contest.
