SMITHFIELD, R.I. — Dartmouth men’s basketball got off to a predictably sluggish start on Sunday after a 12-day break between games for final exams. But the Big Green shook off the rust in time to win their third straight, beating host Bryant 63-61 in overtime.
After the Bulldogs scored the game’s first 10 points, Dartmouth (3-1) rallied back, and it was a back-and-forth game throughout the second half. The Big Green led by seven with under four minutes to play, but found themselves trailing by three in the final seconds before graduate guard Brendan Barry’s three-pointer with three ticks to go sent the game to the extra session.
Fifth-year forward Aaryn Rai’s layup with one second left in overtime gave Dartmouth the victory.
Barry led the Big Green with 15 points, all on three-pointers, as well as four steals. Senior guard Taurus Samuels had 13 points, freshman guard Ryan Cornish added 12 and junior forward Cam Krystkowiak chipped in with 10. Rai cleaned up on the glass with a game-high 15 rebounds to go along with seven points.
