WINDSOR — Repeating their rivalry week feat with a little more difficulty, the No. 1 Windsor High football team scratched past No. 4 Woodstoc, 26-13, on Saturday at MacLeay-Royce Field to advance to the VPA Division III championship game.

The Yellowjackets scored four times on the ground and led, 14-6, at halftime en route to the victory in a D-III semifinal. The Jacks had posted a 42-13 win over the Wasps (6-4) in the team’s previous meeting two weeks ago.

Senior Ben Gilbert had a pair of scores for Windsor, and juniors Logan Worrall and Maison Fortin added one each.

Windsor (10-0) will play BFA Fairfax (7-1) in Saturday’s final at Rutland High School, with a scheduled 2 p.m. kickoff.

Woodstock will say goodbye to seniors Wyatt Begin, Memphis Begin, Eric Blanchard, Colby Eaton, Robby Macri, Otto Nisimlat, Alexander Rice, Corey White, Ryan Leonard, Ryan Runstein and Aidan Herguth.

Lebanon 47, Souhegan 20

LEBANON — Four different players had two touchdowns each to lead the second-seeded Raiders in Saturday’s NHIAA Division II quarterfinal win over the seventh-ranked Sabers.

Seniors Jack Stone and Nyeoti Punni ran for two scores each, and seniors CJ Childs and Justin DeCarlo had both rushing and receiving touchdowns. Lebanon led 27-6 at halftime. Souhegan cut the gap to 27-20 before the Raiders eventually pulled away.

Lebanon (9-0) will host third-seeded Milford on Saturday in a semifinal matchup. The Raiders beat Milford, 27-14, rallying for three second-half scores to reverse a 14-6 deficit.

Fall Mountain 21 Newport 6

NEWPORT — The fourth-seeded Wildcats pulled off the upset in the NHIAA Division IV semifinals by shutting down Newport’s usually reliable ground game and forcing three turnovers.

Fall Mountain got on the board first and led 6-0 until late in the second half when the Tigers put together their only sustained drive of the afternoon following a fumble recovery by junior Tyler Gobin with about 4 minutes left.

Beginning at their own 39-yard line, Newport ran the ball up the middle for several plays before sophomore Kyle Ashley scored from 4 yards out to tie the score going into halftime.

After the second-half kickoff, Fall Mountain started at their own 47 and marched to the 12-yard line where senior quarterback Lucas Gay ran it in. The ensuing two-point conversion put the Wildcats up, 14-6, with 8 minutes left in the third quarter.

Fall Mountain would get its final score when Newport, which struggled to move the football all day long, failed to get a first down on a fourth-and-7 deep in its own territory late in the fourth quarter. The Wildcats ran it in from the 6 with about five minutes to play.

Newport finishes at 7-1. Fall Mountain (6-3), which lost to Newport, 35-0, in the regular season, will play Somersworth for the D-IV championship on Saturday.

Newport loses Devyn Heino, Dylon Carpenter, Kaiden Seymour, Jayden Conroy, Cameron Howard, Bryce Ashley, Liam Almstrom, Luke Bartlett and Jackson Dame to graduation.

Cross CountryHarriman shatters LHS record

NASHUA,N.H. — Lebanon High’s Birhanu Harriman hacked 24 seconds off the school 5K cross country mark, finishing fifth overall at the NHIAA Meet of Championsat Mine Falls Park.

Harriman clocked a time of 15 minutes, 34 seconds, and was among the top runnersin the field of 147 boys. Hanover sophomore Spencer May was 22nd, (16:15) leading his team to a fifth-place finish among 18 squads. Hanover’s other top finishers were sophomore Will Parker in 35th (16:38), junior Mack Levy in 42nd (16:46) and senior Luke Holmes in 59th (17:04)

For the girls, in a field of 113 runners, Lebanon junior Isabella Hastings was 37th (19:48), Hanover sophomore Sarah Glueck took, 49th, (20:00) and Lebanon junior Elizabeth Kourbatski landed in 53rd (20:05).

Hanover’s boys qualified as a team and Harriman advanced as an individual to next weekend’s New England Championship at Thetford Academy.
