CLAREMONT

Claremont American Legion Post 29 will host a ceremony in Broad Street Park on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. Commander Steve Blish will discuss the history of Veterans Day and the legion’s Honor Guard will also participate. The motorcycle group Rolling Thunder will handle flags. Afterward, there will be a luncheon for veterans and their families at the post, which is located at 119 Broad St. At 2 p.m., the honor guard will visit Sullivan County nursing home and lower its flag, replace it with a new one and present the lowered flag to the oldest veteran at the county home.

HANOVER

The Dartmouth Student Veterans Association will be hosting a one-day exhibit from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at Rauner Library that features stories of Dartmouth veterans.

A flag raising will take place at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at the Dartmouth Green. The Dartmouth ROTC will conduct a Retreat & Drill Ceremony at the Green from 4:45 to 5:15 p.m.

The Dartmouth Veterans ERN (Employee Resource Network) will host a walk and resource fair from 9 to 11 a.m. The group will meet in front of the Hopkins Center for the Arts around 8:45 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, before departing on a short walk, which will be followed by a visit to a resource tent set up on the Dartmouth Green.

Dartmouth President Emeritus James Wright will give a talk titled “Veterans Today and the Wars in which They Have Served” from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Filene Auditorium in the Moore Building. It can also be livestreamed via dartgo.org/jameswright.

HARTFORD

The White River Junction VA Medical Center will host an in-person and virtual ceremony from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11. The Lyme Town Band will provide music. Attend in person at 163 Veterans Drive or stream via facebook.com/VAWhiteRiverJunction.

LEBANON

Lebanon American Legion Post 22 will be hosting a Veterans Day parade on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. The parade starts at the CCBA, goes around Colburn Park and ends at the park’s gazebo for a short ceremony.

NEWPORT

There will be a free breakfast for veterans and their families around 9 a.m. at the Newport Veterans Club, at 118 John Stark Highway. A ceremony will take place at the town common right before 11 a.m. Rifles and a canon will be fired at 11:21 a.m.

ORFORD

The Orford/Fairlee Veterans Day celebration will take place at the Orford Congregational Church on Main Street, Orford, at noon on Thursday, Nov. 11. Public welcome. Contact John O’Brien with any questions at 603-724-4452

Weathersfield Veterans Memorial Committee Veterans Day Ceremony: Thursday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Park, Route 106, Perkinsville.

SOUTH ROYALTON

Vermont Law School (164 Chelsea St.) will be hosting a Veterans Day event on Thursday, Nov. 11, from 12:45 to 2 p.m. The event will begin with a flag-changing ceremony in front of Debevoise Hall and move indoors to Yates Hall for an opportunity to share stories in honor of our veterans. Cake and refreshments will be available and served outdoors.

SPRINGFIELD, Vt.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 771 and American Legion Post 11 will be holding Veterans Day Service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11 at the Springfield Memorial Park on River Street across from Black Rock Steakhouse. In the case of inclement weather, the services will be held at the VFW Post 771, 115 River St. 802-885-6008.

The two groups will also host a joint Veterans Day Dinner at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13 at the VFW Post 771, 115 River St., which is open to all veterans in the Springfield area. Reservations are required no later than Nov. 11 by calling 802-885-3886, as seating is limited.
