HANOVER — Victory. At last.

The Dartmouth College men’s soccer team finally broke into the win column on Tuesday night. Riding a 30th-minute goal from Ben Jenkins, the Big Green beat Albany, 1-0, to end a season-opening seven-match losing streak.

The Big Green (1-7-0) also needed goalkeeper Alex Budnik to come up with one of his best games of the season to secure the victory. With his team outshot 17-12 on the night, the Dartmouth netminder came up with seven saves to notch his first shutout of the campaign.

The contest’s only goal came at 29:40. Louis Weisdorf delivered a pass to Jenkins, who hit the high right corner of the net behind Carlos Tofern, the Great Danes’ keeper. Tofern finished with four saves for Albany (6-4-0), which entered with a two-game winning streak.

Dartmouth turns its attention back to Ivy League play, with a trip to Yale on tap for Saturday.
