HANOVER — Five different Big Green players scored goals as the Dartmouth College field hockey team beat Merrimack, 5-0, on Sunday at Chase Field.
Meg Barnes and Holley Cromwell both had their first goals of the season to stake the Big Green (4-3-0) to a 2-0 lead at the half. Dartmouth pulled away with scores from Lila Browne, Payton Altman and Cecelia Monnin in the span of 8½ minutes in the third quarter. Cromwell added two assists for a three-point day.
Dartmouth dominated the contest, holding a 16-3 edge in shots attempted and an 8-1 advantage in shots on goal. Isabella Santucci and Hatley Post shared the shutout for the Big Green, with Post recording the team’s only save.
Dartmouth visits Northeastern on Friday night before returning home to host Cornell in its Ivy League opener on Sunday.
WEST POINT, N.Y. — The Big Green remained unbeaten at 3-0 and handed the Black Knights their first defeat in a close contest.
Dartmouth seemed on its way to a rout, as a pair of Lilly Durbin tries sandwiching a score from Kristin Bitter staked the visitors to a 19-0 lead at the half. The Big Green had the advantage to 29-0 by the 48th minute, but Army (2-1) fought its way back into the contest, getting its final try with 37 seconds left on the clock to throw a scare in the Big Green.
Durbin and Emily Henrich both had 10 points for Dartmouth. Abbey Savin hit on two of four conversion kicks.
Dartmouth begins a three-match homestand at Brophy Field with a visit from Sacred Heart on Saturday.
HANOVER — The Big Green wrapped up the Dartmouth Invitational with five match victories at the Thompson Outdoor Courts.
Carlos Guerrero Alvarez won his match against a player from Yale, 6-4, 6-2, before pairing up with Anders Gibbons for a 6-3 doubles win. Logan Chang, Alejandro Quiles and Hikaru Takeda all added singles victories.
Dartmouth plays at the Boston University Invitational on Saturday.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Big Green closed out the Brown Invitational with matches against foes from UMass, Rutgers and Stony Brook.
Dartmouth claimed three wins in singles from Katie Weber, Elizabeth Fahrmeier and Ameliija Swaffer-Selff. Jingyi Peng later joined Swaffer-Selff for a victory in doubles action.
The Big Green will be at the Boston University Invitational on Saturday.
HANOVER — Dartmouth’s 28-18 win at Valparaiso on Saturday netted a pair of Ivy League honors on Monday.
Linebacker Jalen Mackey was named Ivy defensive player of the week. Mackie recorded 12 tackles — two more than his career tally entering the game — and had a key interception that led Dartmouth to insurance points in the fourth quarter.
Receiver Paxton Scott was chosen as Ivy rookie of the week. The freshman had eight catches for 87 yards and a touchdown in the victory.
