NEWPORT — The town of Newport has received a $25,000 grant to build a dog park in town.
The money comes from PetSafe, a pet supply business. Newport was one of five communities to receive the highest number of votes from Aug. 3 to 31.
The park will be installed on a 5-acre lot next to Advance Auto Parts on John Stark Highway heading into downtown. The park proposal, which will take up around 1 acre, calls for small and large dog areas.
