CLAREMONT — A 59-year-old Claremont man is facing two arson charges after police say he set fire to Daddypops Tumble Inn Diner last month.

Leo LeBlanc was arrested Wednesday and charged with two felony counts of arson, according to a news release from Claremont police.

The release said he turned himself in after learning of a warrant for his arrest and is being held without bail at the Sullivan County House of Corrections pending his arraignment on Thursday.

Witnesses last month told police they saw a man lighting a fire at the front of the diner the night of July 29. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in about 15 minutes.

The diner, which was built in 1941 by the Worcester Lunch Car Co., suffered minor damage, and its management said they expect to reopen.

Anyone with additional information about the incident is asked to call Claremont Police Detective Joshua Peavey at 603-542-9538.
