JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Dartmouth College senior Tim Zepf has one more race to run … and maybe more after that.

The senior from Londonderry, N.H, and Trinity High School recorded a personal-best time on Wednesday to advance to the 800-meter run finals at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East Regional meet at the University of North Florida’s Hodges Stadium. Zepf won his first-round heat in 1 minute, 48.39 seconds, which is also the second-fastest time in school history for the distance.

Overall, Zepf was third in a field of 48 competitors across six sections in the Florida heat. Winning his race guaranteed Zepf an automatic clot in Friday’s quarterfinals, set for a 7:35 p.m. start.

The top three finishers from those heats, along with the next three best times, will earn spots at the NCAA Championship in Eugene, Ore., on June 9-12.

Zepf made Jacksonville by running a 1:48.83 at IC4As two weeks ago.
