MONTPELIER — Montpelier High responded to an opening two-run incursion by Oxbow with a seven-run second and motored to a 13-5 NVAC Capitol Division baseball win over the Olympians on Thursday in the only Upper Valley high school sports event to survive the wet weather.

Bryce and Reece Ilsley got Oxbow (2-2) going quickly, both walking and scoring on a two-run Carter Allen single in the top of the first inning. It was all Solons (3-1) after that, as the hosts tied the game in the home first then put a crooked number on the scoreboard in the second to take control of the contest.

Oxbow added its other runs in the fourth on back-to-back-to-back RBI singles from Reece Ilsley, Allen and Chase Lund. Alex Emerson took the loss on the mound.
