WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — The Hartford High boys lacrosse team ignored the wet conditions to dominate BFA-Fairfax to the tune of a 12-1 win at the Alumni Athletic Complex on Wednesday.

Joe Barwood (two assists), Gordon Willey (one assist) and Chris Pierce racked up three-goal hat tricks to power the attack. Ezra Mock, Bentley Boonyaharn and Blaine Gour provided the others. Coach Grant Whiteway credited Hartford’s second-half play on defense, with Connor Tierney scooping up six ground balls and forcing two takeaways.

Goaltender Tarin Prior recorded 21 saves. The Canes host St. Johnsbury on Tuesday.

BASEBALLHanover 3, Fall Mountain 1

LANGDON, N.H. — West Stocken and Trevor Pierce combined on a rainy one-hitter and Hanover (6-0) scored twice in the final two innings to stay unbeaten.

Stocken worked the first five innings, striking out five. Pierce, who got the win in relief, fanned three over the final two innings. It was just enough for Hanover to outlast Fall Mountain ace Mitchell Cormier, who kept the visitors’ bats in check until requiring relief help after six frames.

Catcher John Hill accounted for two of Hanover’s six hits. Ben Williams (1-for-3) came home on a Hill sacrifice fly in the first and scored the go-ahead run in the sixth on a Sam Sacerdote squeeze bunt.

An RBI double from Colin Pierce (1-for-3) plated Mason Gantrish with an insurance marker in the seventh.

Hanover High has dropped its longtime Marauders nickname and logo, although some uniforms will still carry it for now.

Hanover hosts Stevens on Monday.

SOFTBALLHanover 19, Fall Mountain 11 (4, susp.)

LANGDON, N.H. — Hanover’s efforts at a season sweep of the Wildcats got off to a good start before rain forced a suspension of play in the top of the fourth inning.

The visitors delivered 15 runs on seven hits in a big opening frame. Skouly Kachikis had a two-run double and a grand slam to account for six of the runs.

Natalie Somoff and Grace Lewandowski provided three runs each. Lewandowski added a lunging catch of a Fall Mountain liner to left field in the bottom of the first for a little defensive motivation.

Freshman Jessica Lobb threw all three innings for Hanover. Coach Mariruth Graham said no plans have been made as yet to complete the contest.

BOYS TENNISLebanon 4, Pembroke 2 (susp.)

PEMBROKE, N.H. — The Raiders took four of six singles points before rain stopped the three doubles matches as they started their respective first games.

Brothers Mason and Nolan Arado both claimed 8-0 victories at the top two singles positions. Kian Schifferdecker added an 8-4 defeat of Ben Sprcic at No. 5 and Seamus Hickey contributed an 8-4 win over Jason Dow at No. 3 for the Raiders’ other points.

Coach Tammy Arado said she doesn’t believe the match will be completed at a later date.
