LYME, NH — Darlene C. Lehmann passed away on March 15 from the ravages of breast cancer. She was born on December 27, 1937 in Oak Park, Illinois, the daughter of Myrtle and Russell Frye.
Darlene leaves behind her high school sweetheart and husband of 63 years George W. (Jeff) Lehmann, daughter Kathryn Sheldon, son-in-law Rodrick Finley, four grandchildren, and three (soon to be four) great grandchildren. Her second daughter Laurel Finley passed away in 2011. She is also survived by a brother, Jeffery Frye. A second brother Larry passed away years ago.
Darlene was a stay at home Mom, but was always very active in her voluntary efforts to enrich the community. She was a natural leader known for her warmth and sense of humor. Her greatest passions and accomplishments in life were with her family and friends. She and Jeff retired in Lyme in 1994. Her many dear friends in the community showed their love for her by their heartfelt expressions of support during her illness. She was a master of no trade, but “dabbled” in everything. Her path of volunteerism ended at her beloved Lyme Congregational Church where she chaired the Women’s Fellowship and Bargain Barn thrift shop for many years.
The family hopes there can be a memorial gathering later in the year. Any memorial gifts may be donated to the church.
