LAKE FOREST, CA — On Saturday, March 6, 2021, Marie “Fern” Noel passed away during a beautiful sunset at the age of 93 in Lake Forest, CA. Fern was born to Josephine Violette Noel and Levi Joseph Noel on September 12, 1927 in Windsor, VT.
Shortly after finishing high school, Fern moved from Windsor VT to Hartford CT. Soon after, she and her youngest sister Jo, relocated to Santa Monica CA and flourished in the sun, surf, and southern California lifestyle for decades. Fern had a long and rewarding career at McDonnell Douglas where she worked until her retirement 33 years later. After retirement she moved back to Claremont, NH for several season-changes, and then followed her heart back to southern California, where she lived until her passing. She was always happiest being around her family and friends, telling stories of the early days. Her big smile and laughter will be missed by all that knew her.
Fern is predeceased by her father Levi Joseph Noel, mother Josephine Violette Noel, brother Raymond Donat “Frenchy” Noel, brother Rene Harvey “Butch” Noel all of Windsor VT, and sister Marie Pauline Louisa “Polly” Normandin of Claremont NH.
Fern is survived by her daughter Patrice Spillane of Barrington RI, sister Claudette Elyse “Jo” Noel of Salem OR, sister Lorraine Andrea “Lorry” Noel Lozo of Henderson, NV, and a very long list of loving nieces and nephews.
Due to the current pandemic, there will not be a memorial service at this time. The family will organize a private memorial at a later date to be held in Fern’s birthplace of Windsor, VT. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation to their favorite charity in Fern’s name, or plant a memorial tree in her memory.
