WEST CANAAN — Voters in the Mascoma School District’s five towns — Enfield, Canaan, Orange, Dorchester and Grafton — voted Tuesday to approve the district’s $29.5 million budget for the 2021-22 school year, according to preliminary results.
Residents voted, 1,200-286, to OK the spending plan, which amounts to a 1% increase over the current budget.
The budget includes the reduction of three teaching positions through attrition. The Enfield Village, Canaan Elementary and Indian River schools will each lose an instructor to keeps costs in line with enrollment.
There were no contested races on the district ballot this year. Timothy Josephson ran unopposed for a three-year term representing Canaan on the School Board, while Candace Frye ran to represent Enfield.
