Hot topic: Voters at Dorchester’s Town Meeting will decide whether to increase the highway agent’s term in office from one year to three years once the current agent’s appointment concludes.
Budget: The Selectboard is recommending passage of a $531,566 operating budget. A separate article on the warrant would put $56,000 from the unassigned fund balance in the road improvements and paving capital reserve fund.
Noteworthy articles: The Selectboard and Cemetery Committee are recommending putting $1,000 into a previously established cemetery land acquisition and development capital reserve fund, also from the fund balance.
Contested races: Selectboard Chairman Sherman Hallock is being challenged by Richard Sala, the current moderator.
When and where: Voting on officers and the highway agent’s term will take place by drive-up Australian ballot at Town Hall from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9. The other articles will be voted upon in the same fashion from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.. on Saturday, March 13.
