CLAREMONT, NH — Erwin H. Jache, born December 6th, 1928 in Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH. He passed away at Valley Regional Health Care in Claremont, NH on Sunday January 24th 2021 at the age of 92. He leaves his wife, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, in laws and many friends. If you belong to this group, count yourself lucky, as he was a caring and wonderful man. He did not like funerals and would cry at any he went to. There will be no calling hours or funeral services as he wished.

As a young man he bought and fixed old vehicles. A 1924 Chevy for $15., a 1921 Buick for $25. and several model A Fords. He grew up in Hanover Center, NH and could only ride on the school bus to Hanover High School through 10th Grade. He bought a1934 Olds. During war you needed Ration books (stamps) to buy tires and a limited supply. One day driving to school he had five flat tires to fix. His aunt and two other boys were riding with him. This was when you had to take the inner tube out, put patches on it and put it back in the tire.

In 1947 he needed a vehicle, he had no money for a down payment, so he went to a dealership and asked if they would take gallons of maple syrup, which he had to made for this down payment. They did and he was able to make the payments for a 1941 Olds.

He graduated from Hanover High School in 1946. He owned Red Water Lumber company in Claremont, NH for 50 years. He worked for Joy manufacturing as a turret lathe operator, one shift and then another shift he took his log truck and picked up logs and brought them to the sawmills. At one time he fixed and rented 11 apartments.

At one point in his life, he made a suggestion that we take ballroom dance lessons. We did and he was a wonderful dancer, we had many happy times going to ballrooms in VT & NH.

One apartment complex had a lot of lawn to mow so he made one large section into a vegetable garden. He then put up a one strand electric fence to keep animals out. Four elderly woman rented the apartments. One of the women walking by the garden checking it out, touched the wire and got zapped. She didn’t know what it was so she touched it again and zapped again.

I hope you work hard and play hard like he did and if you want to do something for him, spend a few dollars on an ice cream (he loved it), chocolates, or a pizza for your loved ones and enjoy them and life while you can.

Thank you, Erwin, for a wonderful life together with beautiful memories.
