Lebanon Middle School will move from in-person instruction to remote learning after a staff member tested positive for the coronavirus last week, Lebanon Superintendent Joanne Roberts announced to the district on Saturday.
The remote learning model will be in place for all students from Monday, Nov. 30, through Tuesday, Dec. 8, with students to return to school on Dec. 9, though it’s possible that the remote learning model could be extended if more staff or students test positive. Lebanon’s other public schools will remain open for in-person learning, the announcement says.
After the staff member tested positive early last week, contact tracing turned up “a number of people” who are required to quarantine.
“Based on the number of staff that are required to quarantine, there will be insufficient staff to conduct in-person learning at LMS,” Roberts said in the announcement. “In coming to this decision, we explored many options to continue in-person learning but were unsuccessful in finding a viable option with appropriate staff coverage.”
