WOLFEBORO, NH — Mary Lou Devlin O’Rourke of Wolfeboro, NH died on October 17, 2020 at the age of 95. She was born in Chicago, IL on April 14, 1925, to Paul G. Devlin and Mary Louise Brinkmann Devlin. She was a graduate of Mamaronack High School in Westchester County, NY and Bradford Junior College in Haverhill, MA.
She worked for a summer at Blythe & Co, NYC and later in a factory for the WWII War Effort. She married her high school sweetheart in 1945 to whom she was married nearly 70 years. The two eventually settled down in New Canaan, CT, where they raised their three children. They later lived in Waldoboro, ME and New London, NH before settling into their home in Wolfeboro, NH.
She was a beautiful and accomplished dancer who loved to needlepoint and do decoupage. She was active for many years in the Visiting Nurses Thrift Store, New Canaan, CT. She and her husband were avid collectors of fine art and antiques. For many years they owned Portside Antiques in Wiscasset, ME. Most of all, she took great joy in her life with her husband, their children and spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Mrs. O’Rourke was predeceased by her husband Edward J. O’Rourke Jr., her sister Joann D. Roath, and granddaughter Laura Caesar. She is survived by her three children, Edward J. O’Rourke III, his wife Anne, Susan Caesar, her husband Porter, Paul D. O’Rourke, his wife Molly, grandchildren Andrea Caesar, Molly, Julie, and Matthew O’Rourke, and seven great grandchildren.
Should you wish to send a remembrance, her favorite charity was St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN. A family memorial service will be held in the spring.
