NORTH SUTTON, NH — Donald J. Davis passed away Friday, September 4, 2020 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center after suffering a heart attack.
He was born on May 17, 1971 in New London, NH and was a lifelong resident of North Sutton, NH.
Donnie graduated from Kearsarge Regional High School in 1990 and was a line cook at MacKenna’s Restaurant prior to becoming a delivery person for FedEx, a job he loved and was dedicated to beyond measure. He took pride in his work, especially on Christmas morning when he would ensure all packages were delivered so no child would go without their gifts.
Donnie worked hard, played harder and put his family, (which included many, many people who did not share his DNA), above all else. He enjoyed going to flea markets with his uncle and others and taking his nieces and nephews to breakfast. Donnie had a love for dirt roads, often taking a “short cut” that would bypass all pavement and only add half a day’s travel to what was originally a 30 minute ride. He was a master story teller, silencing a room and keeping his audience sitting on the edge of their seat waiting for the punchline.
Donnie is predeceased by his mother, Diane Davis; his niece, Amber Lee Hanson; and his grandparents. He is survived by his “Pop”, Donald C. Davis Jr., of North Sutton, NH; his older sister, Dawna Vinal of Manchester, NH and her children, Shawn Davis, and Jaxx and Kaleigh Vinal, and his little sister (by 6 minutes, of which he was quite proud), Diane “Dee Dee” Hanson, her husband, Eric, of Sunapee, NH, and their children Amanda and Abby Hanson. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles Catherine and Walter Baker, Jr., and Margaret and Lawrence Ford all of North Sutton, NH, as well as many cousins and friends who meant the world to him.
A memorial service will be held at Muster Field Farm located at Harvey Road in North Sutton, NH on Sunday, September 13, 2020 from 10:00am – 12:00pm. Masks will be required and physical distancing encouraged.
Memorial contributions may be made to David’s House, 461 Mt. Support Rd, Lebanon, NH 03766 or The American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005. His family ask that you please not ignore your health, there are many dirt roads to travel in this life, take care of yourself so you will be able to enjoy them.
