VERSHIRE, VT — Nelson P. Benoir, 80 died on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at his home in Vershire, VT.
He was born April 16, 1940 in Bethel, VT, the son of Henry O. and Elsie M. (Kerry) Benoir. He attended school in Bethel and later served in the U.S. Army for three years.
On February 12, 1966 he married Brenda Perkins of Vershire, VT. They lived for many years in Lebanon, NH before moving to Vershire in 2004.
Nelson was a machinist for 38 years at the Split Ballbearing Corp. before he retiring. He enjoyed the outdoors, whether he was snowmobiling, deer hunting, fishing or camping. He also had his Federal Firearms license and enjoyed buying and selling guns.
He is survived by his son, William Benoir; a brother, Wendell Benoir and a sister, Joan Farrell all of Bethel, VT. A granddaughter, Heather Tufts and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Brenda Benoir on February 20, 2020; two brothers, Stanley Benoir and Douglas Benoir and a sister, Roberta Shonio.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, VT. A private message of sympathy for the family can be shared at www.boardwaycilley.com. The Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home in Chelsea, VT are in charge of the arrangements.
