MERIDEN, NH — Arlene Marie Osgood (Born Hansen), age 71, passed away peacefully at her home in Meriden,

NH on August 25, 2020 after a long bravely fought battle with breast cancer.

She was born on May 22nd, 1949 in Staten Island, NY to Ragnar (Ray) and Manghild (May) Hansen.

Arlene graduated from Northern Highlands High School in Allendale, NJ and attended Keene State College for 3 years. She worked at Montgomery Wards for three years beginning in 1968, before leaving to stay at home to care for her children and provide babysitting for several families.

Arlene re-entered the workforce as a Library Assistant at Kimball Union Academy. While working at KUA, she returned to school and earned her A.S. in Library Science. Eventually, she returned to what she truly loved, working with children. She was the school librarian for Maple Avenue School in Claremont, and after a while transitioned to the classroom as a Para Educator. While working at Maple Avenue School, she also worked part time for two years with

the Community Alliance for Human Services, where she assisted elderly individuals with basic household tasks and errands.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Wallace (Wally) Osgood, her daughter Candice Strickland (Ben Strickland), her sons Jason Osgood, Jeremy Osgood (Kim Pittman), and Justin Osgood (Natalie Osgood); three grandchildren Brian, Amy and Laura Strickland; sisters Carol Akerstrom (Dave Akerstrom) and Lynn Kendall (Chris Kendall), and her brother Paul Hansen.

Due to the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic, a Celebration of Life will be planned for her birthday on May 22nd, 2021.

In lieu of flowers and in appreciation for the care and support Arlene received from Dr. Gary Schwartz and his team, the family asks that a donation be made in her honor to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center’s Breast Program (NCCC The Breast Program).
