CANAAN, NH — Michael Wayne Adam, son of Louis Adam (1993) and Donna Adam (surviving), passed away at Tufts Medical Center on August 12, 2020. He is survived by a loving wife of 33 years, Diane Adam, and two children, Daniel and Bethany Adam, whom he adored. Michael is also survived by his sister Melody Bruno and her two children, Chris and Jenny Bruno; his sister Melinda Adam and her wife Gabriela Chapdelaine; and his foster sister Janet Scholl and her husband Roger Scholl. As an avid dog lover, we would be remiss to omit mention of his two surviving dogs, Buddy and Jasmine. Michael’s family was his greatest joy and his presence will be deeply missed.

Michael was a loving man who dedicated his life to caring for the members of his community through his work as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the intensive care unit at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and as an RN for those recovering from addiction at Habit OPCO. He was a Scoutmaster for several years, a member of the West Lebanon Congregational Church, and the Past Grand Chaplain of the Odd Fellows Grand Lodge of New Hampshire.

Michael loved the outdoors and spent countless hours hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a very spiritual man who felt closest to his Creator while sitting in a tree stand in the early hours of the morning. Many of his strongest friendships were formed in the woods.

Due to COVID-19, a celebration of life has not yet been scheduled but will be shared in the Valley News when the date is determined. The family has chosen to honor Michael’s legacy by creating a scholarship in his name. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Michael W. Adam Nursing Scholarship for students from Mascoma Valley Regional High School who plan to attend a nursing program and continue the work Michael so deeply cared about. Contributions can be mailed to: The Michael Adam Nursing Scholarship, c/o Mascoma Savings Bank, P.O. Box 333, Canaan, N.H. 03741.
