DORCHESTER, NH — Eleanor Mae Walter, 86, passed away at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center Tuesday, June 9, 2020. She was born in Boonton, NJ June 18, 1933 to Mable Gertrude (Crane) and Russell Andrew Jacobus. She married Charles Wilbur Walter February 12, 1963 in Russell Hill, PA. Eleanor worked at the Valley News and the Poverty Lane Apple Orchard, but her greatest roles were making a home for her family and raising her children.
Eleanor loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed socializing on the telephone. She took pleasure in playing Bingo, doing crossword puzzles, crocheting, and collecting salt and pepper shakers.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Walter of Dorchester, NH, and son, William (Bill Bill) Mericle of Sussex, NJ.
Eleanor is survived by her son, Darwin (Tammy) Mericle of Ascutney, VT; daughter, Sharon (Tony Wells) Walter of Claremont, NH; son, Leonard (Bitsy) Walter of Rosepine, LA; daughter, Eileen (Jimmy Pratt) Walter of Dorchester, NH; personal companion and dog, Milo; grandchildren, John, Jane Marie, Susan, James, Samantha, Kristin, Anthony, Christopher, Layla, Melissa, and Dylan; great grandchildren, Gavin, Mason, Quinton, Hayden, Keegan, Maddy, Ethan, Legend, Aaden, Kayden, Emmett, and Arianna; and many relatives and friends.
