CORNISH, NH — David Allen L’Heureux, 72, of Cornish, New Hampshire, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2020, after suffering a stroke from his home in Cornish, New Hampshire.
Dave was born in Claremont, New Hampshire, July 12, 1947 to Wilfred Gerard and Verna Ussuline Wood. He is a Vietnam Veteran, who served in the Army, and is a Purple Heart recipient. He continued to serve as a civilian working for the Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory, (CRREL), in Hanover, New Hampshire. During his tenure, he was recognized for his work on ice flow dynamics related to the deployment of ribbon bridges.
He retired with the love of his life, his wife Ruth. Together, Dave and Ruth built and cherished their home and farm together, nestled in the hills of Cornish, New Hampshire. Their love for animals was unprecedented. Their beautiful horse and two donkeys, along with multiple chickens, and their cat brought them great joy and happiness. The fields that surrounded them gave them ample opportunities to watch birds, deer, mountain lions, bear, and other wildlife in its natural habitat.
Surviving family members include his two step-sons, David, “Skip,” Beland and his wife, “Bo” Song Beland, of Pflugerville, Texas and Darrell Beland, of Cornish, New Hampshire. He is also survived by one sibling, Linda McKay, and her husband, Paul McKay, who reside in Connecticut.
He was predeceased by siblings, Gary L’Heureux and Joan Mack.
