WEST LEBANON, NH — Matthew Murray Daley, 88, passed away peacefully May 28th at the home of his daughter and beloved grandchildren.

Matt was born on February 2, 1932 in Brookfield, MA, son of Matthew and Loretta (Ready). He graduated from Hartford High School in 1950 and the University of Vermont. He also served in the Army traveling all over the Middle East.

Matt worked in the Real Estate/Appraisal field most of his life, a fitting occupation for someone who loved meeting new people and traveling the backroads of New England.

Matt always had a witty story to tell and at age 80 started putting pen to paper writing his life stories. His third and final book arrived for editing on the day of his death his grandchildren are committed to bringing this book to fruition. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved nothing better than a walk in the woods listening and looking for wildlife or a beautiful day on a northern lake with a fishing pole. He was adored by his grandchildren and always enjoyed hearing about their adventures and telling them about his as a youth. He is already incredibly missed.

Matt was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; son, Matthew Daley; and his sister, Maryjane Meyer. He is survived by his daughter, Shannon Buskey, and her husband, Will, of Lebanon, their children, Alex (Alison), Eliza, Max (Gretta), and his son, Bartley Daley, and his wife, Jill, and their daughter, Esperanza. Survivors also include nieces, Jan Meyer and Susan Birge, nephew, Jim Meyer, and cousins, See See and John Gilwee. Also wonderful friends Martin, Tom, Bob, Kathleen, Scotty, Ellen and Helena. Matt was fortunate to live in an incredibly loving and supportive neighborhood with an open door and open mind he was always there to listen and would want that practice to live beyond him. To honor Matt please take a walk in the great outdoors and be kind to all others.

A private graveside service will be held and a celebration of life will be at a later date. Contributions can be made to The Upper Valley Humane Society, 300 Old Route 10, Enfield, NH 03748.
