NEW LONDON — Residents handily approved four zoning amendments and also settled a contested race for two seats as Library Trustees at Town Meeting this week.

Marianne McEnrue, with 256 votes, and Steven Solomon, 215, appear to have won library board seats, while Phyllis Magner had 211 votes, in Australian ballot voting Tuesday.

In the floor meeting on Wednesday evening, New London’s proposed $8 million fiscal year 2021 operating budget passed, and voters also gave a thumbs-up to a nonbinding proposal to charge a fee to shoppers who rely on plastic bags from stores in town.
