ENFIELD — Residents on Tuesday settled a contested race for Budget Committee, choosing among five people running for three open seats.

Nancy Smith, with 226 votes, Dominic Albanese, 216, and Phil Shipman, 157, won three-year terms, besting Dimitri Deserranno, 142, and Brian Degnan, 129.

In other Australian ballot voting, Library Trustee Francine Lozeau defeated challenger Susan Brown, 270-65, for a seat on the library board.

Selectboard member John Kluge was unopposed for another three-year term.

Several zoning amendments all passed handily.

At the floor meeting scheduled for Saturday morning at the Enfield Village School, residents will take up a $3.8 million request to replace and upgrade portions of Enfield’s aging water and sewer systems.

The Selectboard is also proposing a $6.93 million municipal budget, just under a 3.9% increase over current spending.

The warrant also seeks $190,000 to obtain four police cruisers through a five-year, lease-purchase agreement.
