Brooke Plonka and Madie Augusto combined for a no-hitter and Loghan Thomas smacked a walk-off double as Dartmouth (3-2) softball captured a 2-1 victory over North Carolina A&T on Sunday.
Plonka got the start and threw 3.2 innings and struck out five batters. Augusto then entered and lasted final 4.2 innings with five strikeouts.
With two outs in the bottom of the eighth and nobody on base, Dartmouthโs Billie McFadyen singled to left. Thomas then stepped up and laced the ball to center, and McFadyen beat the tag at the plate for the win.
The Big Green plays Florida International and Albany on Friday in The Spring Games in Lakeland, Fla.
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. โ Justin Murray threw seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits and two of walks while striking out six, as the Big Green improved to 2-2 on the season.
The first Dartmouth runs came in the third inning when Connor Bertsch got on a base with a two-out walk. Bryce Daniel singled him to second and Trevor Johnson was plunked to load the bases. A passed ball allowed the first run to scamper home, and Freeman followed by lining a double into right-center, scoring two more for a 3-0 lead.
The Big Green tacked on three more in the fifth and two in the sixth. The Mavericks lone run of the day came in the eighth inning.
Omaha loaded up the bases with no outs in the ninth, but Max Hunter was summoned from the bullpen and escaped the jam to end the game.
Dartmouth visits Virginia next weekend for a three game series starting Friday.

WHITEFIELD, N.H. โ The Raiders won placed second in the boys half of a New Hampshire Coaches Series 5K skate race hosted by White Mountains.
Lebanon was led by Sawyer Wealeโs 16th place finish and were also led by Simon Amaro (23rd), Daniel Mladek (28th) and Nathan Magari (29th). Zoe Chinn led the Lebanon girls to sixth place, followed by Ayla Weale (25th), Maya Barnett (26th) and Celia Barnett (28th).
The Ford Sayre boys team placed 15th thanks to Dirk Andrewโs first-place finish. Teammate Spencer May took fourth. The girls team claimed 19th and was led by Hannah Chipman (third place).

WOODSTOCK โ Four-year varsity player Nathaniel Kennedy scored his first career goal on senior night to highlight the Waspsโ win at Union Arena.
Kennedy wrapped up the scoring on a pass from Charles Greene. Andrew Gubbins led the attack with two goals and an assist, with Riley Shepherd and Greene both having one-goal, one-assist efforts. Trevor White and Ryan Runstein also scored goals. Dylan DeSchamp and Graeme McKeon earned assists.
Three netminders combined on 16 saves for Woodstock (14-3-2), which closes its schedule at Burlington on Wednesday.
