WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — The Hartford High boys hockey team punctured talented Northfield goaltender Dylan Partlow for a pair of first-period goals to grab a 2-0 win at Wendell A. Barwood Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Kyle Hamilton and Jacob Dwinell provided the markers for Hartford (9-5-1). Hamilton finished a Kaj Boeri pass, and Dwinell scored shorthanded on an Aiden Boonyaharn helper with two seconds left in the stanza.
Partlow kept the Marauders in the game with 41 saves.
“I think we came out strong and had a really good first period,” Hartford coach Todd Bebeau noted. “We knew their best player was their goaltender, and he certainly lived up to that reputation.”
Hartford netminder Colby Boyce earned a 17-save shutout.
The Canes visit Missisquoi on Wednesday.
HOOKSETT, N.H. — A pair of Londonderry goals about a minute apart midway through the second period was the difference in the Marauders’ loss at Tri-Town Arena.
Hanover scored first at the 4:23 mark of the second period on a goal by freshman Jack Stadheim, assisted by Patrick Daley and John Hill.
Hanover outshot the hosts 31-12 in the second and third periods after being outshot, 7-6, in the first. Goaltender Ben Plottner had 17 saves for Hanover (6-3-0 overall, 8-4-0 NHIAA).
Hanover hosts Trinity on Wednesday.
MERIDEN — The Wildcats had to hold on late despite taking a 4-0 lead at one point early in the second period.
Sullivan Mack had two goals and an assist, including a shorthanded goal for the eventual game-winning tally. Luca Fantilli had a goal and an assist. Zach Whitehead and Paul Dore each had goals. Goalie Veeti Kohvakka made 32 saves to record the win.
KUA (18-5-1) hosts Northfield Mount Hermon on Wednesday.
MANCHESTER, Vt. — The Hurricanes continue to search for that first win after coming up just short at the Bulldogs.
Hartford trailed, 3-2, in the final minutes and were thwarted with 10 seconds left when a would-be goal while playing with an extra skater was stopped by the Bulldogs’ netminder. Burr & Burton then added an empty-netter to close the deal.
Caitlin Slider scored both goals for the Canes. Greer McCarty and Brianna Roberts had assists. Goalie Zoey Pfeiffer made 25 saves. Hartford outshot the hosts, 33-28.
The Canes (0-12-0) host Woodstock on Wednesday.
WEST LEBANON — The Raiders lost when Berlin-Gorham scored the game-winner with 11 seconds left to play and then added an empty-netter to close the book.
Marissa Pickman had two goals for the Raiders. Makayla Maccioli added a goal, and Lily Barber had two assists. Lena Nowell added an assist. Goalie Paige Hoegler made 17 saves.
The Raiders (5-3-2) host Keene on Tuesday.
WOODSTOCK — The Wasps (5-8-0) played Burlington-Colchester (13-1-0) to a scoreless draw until early in the third period, when the visitors broke through for four goals in a six-minute span.
Goalie Ava Dodson made 18 saves for the Wasps.
SOUTH ROYALTON — The VPA Division IV Eagles (9-3) took down the D-III Wildcats (8-4).
Hayley Goodwin had a game-high 14 points to pace MVCS. Sydney Goodwin added nine points, Emma Foster had eight points and Lydia Eastman had seven.
Sarah Howe (nine points) and Sophie Howe (seven) led the way for WRV.
Both teams return to action on Monday when MVCS hosts Mount St. Joseph and WRV hosts Green Mountain.
MARSHFIELD, Vt. — Hunter Cooper scored 22 points and the Eagles (5-6) moved the ball around well for a nonleague win.
Joel Roberts hit for 13 points and Dylan Patel added 10 for Mid Vermont Christian, which has a rematch with CCS on Thursday in Quechee.
BRATTLEBORO, Vt. — Bedeviled by unfamiliar oil conditions on the lanes, the top-ranked Yellowjackets lost a three-game Baker final to third-ranked Fair Haven at Brattleboro Bowl while No. 10 Hartford took fourth place.
The Jacks and Canes finished third and fourth, respectively, in qualifying. Windsor swept Brattleboro, 152-91 and 222-135, in the semifinals and had a one-game lead on Fair Haven in the finals before succumbing, 171-205, 170-135, 182-148.
Rayce Gilbert (142-197), Grayson Frazer (163-158) and Patrick Kelley (144-184) had the big days for Windsor.
Hartford narrowly lost to the Slaters in the semifinals, falling in a second-game rolloff. The Canes dropped their consolation match to Brattleboro, 149-124, 135-124.
Cean Lieberman Jr. rolled 206-156, Ryan Burnham had 120-149 and Hailey Rogers delivered 112-117 in qualifying for Hartford. Katrina Quillia, who carried an 85.7 average entering the day, shot a season-best 138 in qualifying.
Windsor, Enosburg Falls and White River Valley head to Essex on Saturday, while Hartford joins Fair Haven at Springfield the same day.
PLYMOUTH, N.H. — The Smarts Mountain Ski Team’s Jack Lange, of Lyme, won the New Hampshire Nordic Coaches Association’s Coaches Series 5K classic race on Saturday in a time of 14 minutes, 16.5 seconds, and Samuel Murray, of Hanover, finished second with a time of 14:23.9. Ford Sayre Ski Council’s Dirk Andrew and Hanover High’s Noah Phipps also had high-ranking times among Upper Valley skiers out of a field of 143 at Plymouth Regional High School.
Andrew placed fourth overall in 14 minutes, 38.4 seconds. Phipps finished 10th in 15:37.9.
Also placing for Hanover was Simon Phipps (16th, 16:15.9), Jack Meehan (18th, 16:27.0) and Diego Spinwall (19th, 16:30.6). Ford Sayre’s Spencer May was 11th (15:38.3). Lebanon’s top finisher was Sawyer Weale (25th, 16:46).
In the girls 5K, Ford Sayre’s Catherine Bregou was 10th (18:14.5), while Hanover High’s Meg Frost took 19th (19:30.6). Lebanon’s Zoe Chinn finished 22nd in 19:47.3, Hanover’s Sage Diamond-Gilbert took 27th in 20:30.3. Brianna Debanico (30th, 20:37.9) and Celia Barnett (31st, 20:44.4) also excelled in the 133-girl field for Lebanon. Kearsarge’s Lili Baer won in 17:38.9.
PETERBOROUGH, N.H. — The Tigers had four pins and a win by forfeit in a close loss at the Cougars.
Newport earned just six points via forfeit compared to 24 points by forfeit to Con-Val.
The Tigers had victories by pins from Mike Wilkinson at 145 pounds, Anson Ritondo at 106 pounds, Marius Edwards at 160 pounds and Josh Sharron at 152 pounds. Luke Bartlett won by forfeit.
The Tigers are back in action on Saturday at Plymouth.

Mascoma 70, Berlin 34
BERLIN, N.H. — Connor Thompson erupted for 12 of his 14 points in the opening frame of the Royals’ rout of the Mountaineers.
Mascoma (7-5, 6-4) owned a 28-5 lead after one quarter thanks to Thompson’s hot shooting.
Ben Seiler finished with a game-high 20 points for the Royals, who also got 10-point nights from Gabe Rock and Josh Evans.
ORLEANS, Vt. — After a 15-15 tie through one quarter, the Olympians (8-3) couldn’t keep pace with the Rangers’ scoring output.
Alexa Kosakowski paced Oxbow with nine points, followed by eight from Emma DeGoosh and six from Emma Parkin.
Coe-Brown 61, Stevens 42
NORTHWOOD, N.H. — The Cardinals (6-8, 4-7) opened up a 13-8 lead after one quarter but couldn’t keep up the pace.
Sydney Miller led Stevens with 14 points, and Jaci Morin added 10. Zahna Rice contributed seven.
WEST LEBANON — The Raiders (2-9-0, 2-7-0) surrendered the game-winning goal with 2:43 to play in regulation.
Andrew Duany finished a Jon Cloud pass at 7:01 of the third period to tie the contest at 1-1, and goaltender Toby Cromwell kept the Raiders in the game with 35 saves.
