GRANTHAM, NH — Richard D. Atherley of Grantham, NH passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020 after a short, but courageous battle with cancer at age fifty-seven. He is survived by his beloved wife of thirty years, Jacqueline G. Atherley (Neveu). Richard was a co-owner and broker at RE/MAX Upper Valley Partners in West Lebanon, NH.
Richard was an incredibly outgoing person and easily engaged with everyone he met. He was also quick to help others, and this was just one facet of his outstanding character.
Richard was a graduate of New Hampshire College. He began his career in sales. His entrepreneurial spirit soon led him to own several successful businesses. He was an avid tennis player and an integral team member in many local leagues. Richard was an auto enthusiast and enjoyed a brisk drive on the winding country roads. He also took pride in continuously improving his lovely home overlooking Anderson Pond in Grantham.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret (Devlin). He is survived by his father, Richard; brother, Bruce (Meredith); and sister, Beth Butler (John). He is also survived by numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
At Richard’s request, there will be no calling hours or funeral.
