WINDSOR, VT — Evans Joseph Perry, 96, Saturday, January 18, 2020 in the late afternoon slipped away while holding hands with his daughter and granddaughter.
Evans was born November 10, 1923 in Rochester, VT. His mother Elizabeth (Paquette) Perry instilled honesty and a strong work ethic into young Evans that steered his entire life. His father Seth Edward Perry taught him many other life lessons.
After serving primarily in England and France as a sergeant in the US Army Air Corp from 1943 to 1946 he settled in Windsor, VT where he married the love of his life Ella Moquin. They met before WWII at the Goodyear Tre & Rubber Company from where Evans retired after 44 years.
His sisters Laura Whitney and Marjory Stocker; brother Preston Perry predeceased him, as well as his firstborn daughter Bette Ann Perry.
He leaves behind his wife of 73 years, Ella; a daughter Beverly, a granddaughter Denise Matthews and her husband Roger, a great-granddaughter Elizabeth-Ann Matthews; and a brother-in-law Norman Moquin.
He loved his “girls” unconditionally and freely told them every chance he had.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 22 at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, VT at 11am with military honors. Burial will be held at a later date in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, VT.
