TILTON, NH — George A. Cote, Jr., 82, died Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at the NH Veterans Home where he had resided since 2015.

He was born in Newport, NH on September 4, 1937 the son of George A. and Myrtle M. (Currier) Cote, Sr.

He had been a mechanic for Swenson Granite for about 10 years and lived in Salisbury, as well as Dunbarton at the time. He worked several years for the City of Franklin and was also a Road Agent for Springfield, NH for five years. George worked for the State of NH for 22 years retiring in 2001. He lived most of his life in Springfield.

George served in the US Army from 1956-1962. Years ago he had a kennel license because he just loved dogs, especially beagles. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

His wife of 51 years, Carol A. (Shaw) Cote, died in 2011. He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Linda and Matt Jezierski of Weare, NH and a son and his wife, Scott and Priscilla Cote of Springfield, NH; five grandchildren, Jenna, Michael, Nicholas, Garrett and Christopher; a sister, Ginger Cloutier of NH and FL; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London, NH on Sunday, January 12, 2020 from 2:00-4:00 P.M. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 13, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Andover Community Church, East Andover, NH. Burial will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the NH Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH.
