CANAAN, NH — Mary L. Clark passed away peacefully at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, NH January 1, 2020. She was born July 13, 1936 to Susie M. (Whitney) and William F. Smalley at the family farm on Goose Pond Road in West Canaan. Mary grew up in Hanover and graduated from Hanover High School with the Class of ‘55. She married Calvin Clark November 21, 1956. They soon began their family and later settled at the family farm on Goose Pond Road.
Mary was involved with the women’s Ministry at the Canaan Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed church and being surrounded by her Christian friends. Most of all she enjoyed her family and children.
Mary is survived by her children, James Clark of Hartland, VT, Susan Clark of Thetford, VT, Maryann (David) Heath of Canaan, NH, and Diane (Andrew) Bernier of Grafton, NH; 8 grandchildren, Nathan Clark & Ashlea, John & Marissa Ignacio, Benjamin & Emily Heath, Alisa Heath, Jeremy Heath, Paul Allen, Brooke Bernier, and Cynthia Downing; and 6 great grandchildren, Johny, Irissa, Jadelyn, Haydon, David, and Landon.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Susie and William F. Smalley; husband, Calvin Clark; and brother, William J. Smalley.
Per Mary’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Wells Cemetery in Canaan, NH. Memorial donations in Mary’s memory can be made to: Jack Byrne Center, Mascoma Senior Center or the Upper Valley Humane Society.
