CANAAN, NH — Arthur H. Herrin, 88, passed away Saturday November 23, 2019 at the Sullivan County Nursing Home. He was born in Lebanon to the late Chauncey & Beulah (Dudley) Herrin. He grew up in Lebanon where he attended school and enlisted in the US Army. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and began his career as a plumber. He retired from Dartmouth College in 1989. He was a member and two-time post commander of the American Legion Guyer-Carignan Post #22 of Lebanon. When he was younger, he enjoyed motorcycle hill climbing, winning several championships and setting records. During his retirement he enjoyed photography, making toys for children in his wood shop and gardening. Arthur was known for his sense of humor and was loving and kind to children and animals.

He is survived by his wife Edith (Sauter) Herrin of Canaan, three daughters Kelley Odell of Raleigh, NC, Kimberley Dodd and husband Brett of Laconia, Kristine Pollari and husband Matt of Sunapee, a stepdaughter Joanna Navone and husband Mark of Southwick MA, a sister Louise Krajewski of Windsor Locks CT, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours, Arthur will have a memorial service on Sunday December 15th at 1 PM at the Ricker Funeral Home & Crematory in Lebanon. Arthur’s burial will be private. Memorial donations can be made to the American Legion Scholarship Fund or the Upper Valley Humane Society.
