A Friday night art walk in Chelsea features an exhibition of work by five generations of the Dunleavy/Reed family at Chelsea Public Library.
Also part of the art walk is an exhibition of art by Mitch Beck at SafeArt, an organization where Beck has been a steady presence. And North Common Arts shows assemblages of found objects by longtime builder John Parker. The art walk is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m.
AVA Gallery and Art Center in Lebanon opens the first show in its new Members Gallery, which is meant to be a less formal space than its main exhibition spaces, with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday. The show features work by 19 of the nonprofit art center’s artist-members.
“Family Matters,” a show that pairs outsider artists Jordan Laura MacLachlan and the late Morton Bartlett, is on view at BigTown Gallery in Rochester, Vt. MacLachlan, of Toronto, exhibits “Unexpected Subway Living,” which BigTown describes as “a heartbreaking tragi-comic rendering of 300 people and animals thrust into unproductive and unending cultural strife.” Bartlett, a freelance photographer, had a long hobby of sculpting dolls. The show, a collaboration with New York’s Marion Harris Gallery, is on view through February.
Colby-Sawyer College exhibits art by members of its art faculty in the college’s Center for Art + Design. Through Feb. 14.
Paintings by Brookfield, Vt., artist Jyl Emerson are on view at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph from Wednesday through Jan. 2.
Newport’s Library Arts Center holds its “Gallery of Gifts” through Dec. 22.
The Aidron Duckworth Art Museum is holding the final two days of its tag sale to clean out its former Meriden schoolhouse from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The sale includes many of Aidron Duckworth’s personal effects, from furniture to books to tools and artwork he’d collected. Duckworth’s work, which is held by a trust he set up before his death in 2001, is not for sale.
Windsor artist Amy Hook-Therrien is among the artists with work in “I am …,” a multi-media exhibition in the Vermont Arts Council’s Spotlight Gallery in Montpelier that tackles the question of what it means to be a Vermont artist. Through Dec. 20.
