CLAREMONT, NH — On November 5, 2019, Edward Joseph Rice, loving son, husband and father, passed away at age 90.
Ed was born on April 11, 1929, in Danville, IL, to Joseph and Helen (Weaver) Rice. On September 15, 1951, he married Wilma Marie Duell. Together, they raised a loving family which is his final legacy.
A Navy veteran, Ed had a diverse career that included railroad telegrapher, school bus driver, teacher, coach, insurance adjuster and manager of the Warren Inn in Vegas and Carson City, NV. After his final retirement, he and Wilma moved to Claremont, NH.
He will be remembered for his quick wit, warm smile, and unfailing hope for the Chicago Bears.
Ed is survived by his wife, Wilma. Also, surviving are his six children: Eric (Cindy) Rice of North Barrington, IL, Laura (Richard) Daniels of Lebanon, NH, Regina (Jim) Barker of Cornish, NH, David Rice (Lori) of Claremont, NH, Aaron Rice of Fishers Island, NY, and Maryjane Rice Vigneault (Dan) of Claremont, NH. He was preceded in death by one child, Joseph Edward Rice; and family members Stephen and Dane DeBoer.
He was also the loving grandfather of Clara Gouge, Cameron McGrath, Sarah DeBoer-Luciani, Jessica Fleming, Justin Rice, Jarrod Rice, Jessica Juvenal and Nicole Vigneault. Great-grandfather of Olivia Gouge, Grayson McGrath, Autumn McGrath, Brad Luciani Jr., Gabe Luciani, Bryce Luciani, Ava Fleming, Aerah Rice, Kylun Rice, Olivia Littlejohn, and Eli Chavez.
