HANOVER — The Dartmouth College women’s basketball team exploded out of halftime for a 27-13 third quarter en route to a season-opening 72-55 win over Vermont on Tuesday night at Leede Arena.
The Big Green (1-0) scored the first seven points out of the break to turn a 28-25 deficit into a 32-28 lead. The Catamounts (0-1) tied the game at 34 and 37, but a Paula Lenart jumper with 5:02 left in the quarter kicked off a nine-point run that put Dartmouth ahead to stay.
Anna Luce paced the Big Green with 17 points on 8-for-10 shooting. Annie McKenna netted 15 points, and Lenart and Katie Douglas both had 13.
The Big Green next hosts Merrimack on Nov. 13.
