WOODSTOCK, VT — Thomas J. Pearsons, 72, of Woodstock passed away at his home on Sunday, October 20th, surrounded by his wife Donna and his sons David and Jack. Tom fought a very courageous battle with mesothelioma for the past year.
Thomas was born in Hanover, NH on January 31, 1947, the son of Parmalee (Jack) Pearsons and Betty Lucille Pearsons.
Tom started work at The Vermont Standard following his graduation from Woodstock Union High School in 1965. Tom took pride in his work at the paper and was an invaluable source of information as he knew everything and everyone in his home town of Woodstock. Upon leaving the newspaper after 25 years, he and Donna started out on a new adventure and owned and operated Vermontek, Inc. in Woodstock. He then worked at Timken Aerospace in Lebanon, NH from 1999 until his retirement in 2012.
Tom was a lover of the great outdoors and an avid deer hunter, but his real passion was trout fishing. He dreamed of one day having a camp on a lake and he and Donna were able to fulfill that dream and spent their summers at their house on beautiful Seymour Lake in Morgan, VT with his boat at the ready whenever he felt the need to fish and be out on the water. His therapy was being one with nature and spending time with his beloved dog, Sophie.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years Donna (Gramling) Pearsons and his two very loved sons David B. Pearsons (wife Karen) and Jack T. Pearsons. He was also survived by his grandchildren Andrew, Kyle, and Zach Pearsons, of whom he was very proud, his step-children Andrea Earle Eigenbrod and William Earle, their children Madeline and Mason Eigenbrod and Scott Earle, his cousin Donna Evans Hirsch, extended family, numerous friends, and his best friend, fishing buddy, and partner in crime, Steve Potwin.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Linda Jillson.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at the Bridgewater Congregational Church on November 9th at 1:00pm.
Donations in his memory can be made to the Seymour Lake Association, PO Box 36, Morgan, VT 05853.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock. An online guest book can be found at cabotfh.com
