CANAAN — A 73-year-old Dorchester woman has been identified as the motorist who died in a two-car crash on Route 118 in Canaan.

Canaan police said Rosalie Schmidt was driving southbound on Route 118 on Monday morning when her Honda Pilot crossed the center line and collided with an oncoming car.

Schmidt was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 4-year-old child who was a passenger in her car was seriously injured and taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

The driver of the oncoming car, Stephen Frost, 60, of Concord, and his passenger, Carl Beaupre, 57, of Franklin, N.H., also were injured seriously in the crash, according to a news release Tuesday from Canaan police.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information was asked to call Canaan police Sgt. Ryan Porter at 603-523-7400.
