TUNBRIDGE, VT — Kevin Wayne Barnaby, 58 died unexpectedly, Tuesday October 8, 2019 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
He was born August 6, 1961 in Northfield, VT the son of Levi F. and Elsie A. (Wood) Barnaby. He attended Tunbridge Central School and later Chelsea High School where he graduated in 1979.
On July 5, 1980 he married Wendy Craig of Chelsea, VT. They made their home in Tunbridge and together had two children. They were later divorced. On August 27, 1988 he married Michelle Barry. They had one daughter together. They were later divorced also.
Kevin had worked at Green Mountain Container in Sharon, VT. The last 11 years he has worked for the Tunbridge Fair, working his way up to his current position as assistant grounds manager. He worked many events at the fairgrounds in addition to the fair. The Jenny Brook Bluegrass Festival was a favorite of his. He enjoyed working with people and helping to set up for the many summer events. He also ran his own property maintenance business, doing mowing and snow removal for several private homes, businesses and cemeteries.
He was the co-president of the Tunbridge Recreation Association. He put his whole heart into this position. He was the cook in the Rec. Cook Shack, coached little league, was instrumental in getting the Tunbridge pool going again and building the playground, ran rubberball tournaments, helped run youth baseball and softball tournaments, was the cook for the Rec’s monthly, Sunday breakfasts and helped raise money for youth sports teams.
Kevin also enjoyed playing softball in the Men’s Country Mountain League for many years. Playing first for the Buds and then for the Hoers. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and bowling years ago. He was currently the second constable for the town of Tunbridge.
He is survived by a son Michael Barnaby of Tunbridge, VT; two daughters Brandy DeCoff of White River Jct., VT and Katie Barnaby of Tunbridge, VT; a stepdaughter Shannon Barry of Tunbridge, VT; a brother Elbert “Dick” Barnaby of Tunbridge, VT; 12 grandchildren and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Calling hours will be held Friday October 18, 2019 from 6 to 8pm at the Boardway and Cilley Funeral Home, 300 VT RT 110, Chelsea, VT. A memorial funeral service will be held Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 10am in the Memorial Arena at the Tunbridge Fairgrounds with Pastor Tom Harty officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow at the Dodge/Gilman building also on the Fairgrounds.
