Lebanon police identify man found dead in Mascoma River

LEBANON — Police have identified the Lebanon man whose body was pulled from the Mascoma River on Tuesday as Michael R. Edwards, 49.

Edwards, who police said appeared to be homeless, was found dead after police responded to a report Tuesday morning of a body behind the old Kleen Laundry building on Foundry Street, Lebanon Police Chief Richard Mello said in a news release Wednesday.

Edwards was taken to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Concord for an autopsy, which found that the apparent cause of death was drowning. The death is not considered suspicious, according to Mello. A final determination of cause won’t be made until toxicology testing is complete.
