CHELSEA, VT — Wilbur C. Parker, 72 died Sunday July 28, 2019 at his daughter’s home in West Fairlee, VT.
Wilbur was born on April 19, 1947 in Randolph, VT the son of Frank and Marian (Hibbard) Parker. He grew up in South Royalton, VT where he attended school.
He served in the United States Army from 1965-1968. Wilbur had worked as a mechanic in his early years but worked most of his life as a carpenter. He had been married to Elva Brooks of Quechee, VT and later Clara Gusha of Union Village, VT. Both marriages ended in divorce. Wilber lived in Chelsea, VT for 14 years before moving to his daughter’s home when he became ill.
Wilbur was a member of the American Legion Post #26, the V.F.W. Post #2571 both in White River Junction, VT and later American Legion Post #22 in Lebanon, NH. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, carpentry, and making model cars and airplanes. He loved nature and his cats.
He is survived by his four children, a son, Rodney Parker of Helena, AL; three daughters, Kelly Welch of West Fairlee, VT, Theresa Powell of Texas, and Tammy Osmer of Texas; 15 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and a sister, Doris Parker of Sebastopol, CA.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank Parker and Marian Hibbard Parker and a sister, Louise Parker.
There are no public calling hours. A committal memorial service with military honors will be held Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 11am at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Randolph Center, VT.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse and Hospice for VT and NH at P.O. Box 881, Brattleboro, VT 05302.
