WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Upper Valley Nighthawks infielder Cole Frederick capped his New England Collegiate Baseball League regular season by claiming his second player of the week award on Monday.
The rising junior from Jacksonville State continued his torrid play at the plate for the Nighthawks last week. The third baseman was 9-for-15 (.600), scoring six runs, driving in another seven and smacking six extra-base hits. Frederick headed into Wednesday’s doubleheader with Mystic leading the league with a .430 batting average to go with six home runs and 34 RBIs.
Frederick earned his other player of the week honor in week 3 in late June.
CONCORD — Rising Hanover High senior Jack Meehan closed out his three-day New Hampshire Golf Assocation junior championship run with a 9-over-par 81 at Beaver Meadow Golf Course in the tournament’s final round on Wednesday.
