CLAREMONT — An 18-year-old woman was transferred to an out-of-state burn facility after she was hit by a shotgun blast early Thursday morning, city police said in a news release.
Authorities responded to the area of River Road after receiving a report at 6 a.m. of a female injured from the discharge of a shotgun, officials said.
Authorities learned she had been hit by a shotgun blast fired by another person earlier that morning during a gathering of friends. The woman, who was not identified, was injured by projectiles from the blast and burned on her lower body by the discharge of the shotgun, prompting the trip to the burn facility, police said. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Police did not name the shooter but said they had confiscated the weapon.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Claremont Police Department at 542-9538.
