LEBANON — In its continued efforts to draw more young adults to its programming, the Lebanon Recreation and Parks Department has started a series of activities.
Meagan Henry, administrative assistant for the department, came up with the “YOLO (you only live once) Trips.”
“I kind of was just thinking of things I would want to do,” Henry said.
The first trip, horseback riding at High Meadows Farms in Moultonborough, N.H. this Saturday, has already been filled.
There are still spots left for tandem hang gliding at Morningside Flight Park in Charlestown on June 8, scuba diving at Clarke’s Point in Wolfeboro, N.H., on July 20 and glass making at Hot Glass Art Center in Marlborough, N.H., on Aug. 10. The prices for each trip vary.
Henry also took into account people’s schedules: All trips take place on a Saturday and are open to adults age 18 and older.
“We have some in their early 30s and then we have some in their 50s also,” Henry said of the age range.
Henry recommends registering early as the spots are filling up fast.
Last year, the department started making a concentrated effort to reach young adults with its food truck festival, which sold out all 1,500 tickets prior to the event.
“I did not expect to sell out,” Henry said, adding that once the event was posted to Facebook, she saw “the feedback on that; it seemed like people were really excited about it.”
It wasn’t just young adults who were attracted to the festival. Families with young children and senior citizens also love the event.
“That was really exciting,” Henry said.
This year, that event — which takes place on June 21 and 22 — has expanded to two days, with 1,300 tickets available each day.
