SOUTH STRAFFORD, VT — Richard “Bud” Bushway Sr. 78, of South Strafford died peacefully at his home on March 20, 2019. He was born in South Strafford on July 17, 1940 the son of Chester and Mae (Olsen) Bushway. Out of high school he was a body man at Blake Chevrolet in Bradford Vt. He then owned and operated Bushway Auto body in Post Mills while starting Bushway claim service out of White River junction VT. Then in 1978 he was appointed an insurance agency based out of East Thetford from Cooperative Insurance which he ran until he retired in 2015. He was an avid pilot for many years loved working on and restoring antique aircraft. He also enjoyed restoring John Deere tractors and his 34 Ford coupe. He enjoyed hunting trips to Montana, Kansas and Nebraska with his son and grandsons. He enjoyed traveling and taking road trips with his wife Mary whether it be in their 34 coupe or in the Waco bi plane.

He is survived by his wife Mary Dixon of South Strafford, his daughter Lori Bushway of Wilder VT and his son Rick Bushway of White River junction, VT. 5 grandkids and 4 great grandchildren. Three stepchildren, Dawn DeFelice of Hartford VT, Peter Dixon of Enfield NH and Cheryl Barry of Sharon VT.

At his request there will be no calling hours or service. We will do a celebration of his life at a later date.
