CLEVELAND — Dartmouth College freshman swimmer Mia Leko finished her rookie season with a first-place finish in the 200-yard fly on Saturday, concluding the three-day College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America National Invitational Championship from Cleveland State University.

Leko, from North Branford, Conn., won the 200 fly with a finals time of 1 minute and 57.79 seconds, beating out the University of Akron’s Mackenzie Vargas by 0.2 seconds. She also competed in the 500- and 200-yard freestyle, placing fifth (1:48.35) in the 200 free and 20th (4:55.19) in the 500 free.

Leko was, along with Dartmouth sophomore Mackenzie Stumpf, named first team All-Ivy late last month after winning the Ivy League individual title in 200 fly, a race in which she broke her own school record. She also placed sixth in the 500 free, fifth in the 200 free (breaking a program standard from 2012) and was part of Dartmouth’s 400 medley and 800 relay teams that broke Big Green records this winter.

It is the first time since 1996 that two Dartmouth swimmers were named to the first team.

TAMPA, Fla. — The University of South Florida exploded for four runs in the seventh inning, spoiling a solid start by Dartmouth freshman pitcher Nathan Skinner, to complete the three-game series sweep of the Big Green from USF Baseball Stadium.

Skinner had a no-hitter going through 5 ⅓ innings for Dartmouth (4-8) and only allowed one hit headed into the seventh. But the starter struggled in the seventh inning, allowing two hits and a walk to leave the bases loaded for Dartmouth reliever Michael Parsons. USF lead-off hitter Jordan Santos, Parson’s first batter, hit a 2 RBI single to open the flood gates; the Bulls scored four runs on four hits in the inning to improve to 11-7.

The Big Green scored in the first inning, Michael Calamari driving in Matt Feinstein from third base. Feinstein, Calamari and Trevor Johnson all finished the game with two-hits each for Dartmouth, which travels to Bradley for a three-game series starting Tuesday at Osceola County Stadium in Kissimmee, Fla.
