SUNAPEE — The State Fire Marshal’s office and the Sunapee Police Department are investigating a structure fire on Friday at The Anchorage restaurant in Sunapee Harbor, according to a news release issued on Wednesday.
Sunapee police Lt. Neill Cobb declined to say whether the fire is suspicious, but the restaurant wrote on its Facebook page that it is being looked at as an “arson attempt.”
“We regret to announce the cancellation of our St. Patrick’s Day celebration as a result of an arson attempt last Friday, March 8th,” The Anchorage at Sunapee Harbor wrote. “We have been preparing for months to share our recent renovations with you, and we will not let this setback deter us. We will keep you updated as we work to establish our new opening date.”
Cobb also declined to say how much damage the business sustained.
A message left for the Sunapee fire chief and the fire marshal investigator on the case weren’t returned by deadline.
A phone number listed for The Anchorage was disconnected on Wednesday.
The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Sunapee police at 603-763-5555.
